After a spirited
over 35’s game kicked the dew off the
field the Rebels took to the field to
battle an undefeated Roos outfit. With
many regulars injured and away, 5
veterans decided to step up and give the
team they love a hand. The Roos were
kind enough to match the depleted Rebels
squad with 16 a side.
The first half was
a very even battle, with the Rebels
seeing enough of the ball in their
forward half which was littered with 100
game veterans, thanks again fellas!.
But it was a 2nd game Rookie
who was stealing the show at the other
end of the field. Chris “whacko” Jackson
was all over his opponent in the back
half taking many strong grabs and with
the stalwart Sean Duffy down there the
backline was staying strong.
In the third
quarter the Roos got on top in the
middle of the ground and managed to put
some majors on the board. Chris Behie
continued his stellar year winning many
loose balls much like Weez on Saturday
night.
The last change
came and went and with the game sewn up
the target for the quarter was to get a
major on the board. Unfortunately the
veteran forward line didn’t mange to
trouble the goals column on the score
sheet, but there was still plenty of
could have been discussed over a beer at
the end of the game.
With two rd’s left
the Rebels are languishing at the bottom
of the OAFL table, but both are winnable
games and the coaching staff has asked
for a big commitment to finish the
season on a high note.
Remember to check
the updated end of season schedule on
the web page. Still a lot of fun to be
had before the winter hits. |
