ROUND FIVE - Saturday, June 9th,  2007 - Rebels vs. Wildcats
Result: Rebels (5.7.37) def by Wildcats (8.14.62)

In what was touted as the match of the Round, the Rebels went into the game with a big opportunity to start the season 3 and 1. With a strong lineup on paper including the return of Smarty, Bodz and Nacho, Coach Monty was pumped up for a big performance from his troops.

The first quarter was a tight affair with the reliable Rebels midfield battling it out hard with their Wildcat opponents. A couple of blast from the past goals from Bodzy kept the game tight at the first break.

The second quarter was much of the same. Sean “wow I am Dad” Duffy was playing a solid game of the Wildcats best forward and Sparka (yes that’s right he played) and Az were making it very difficult for Hamilton to get on the board even though they did have a good percentage of play in their forward half.

The third quarter began with nothing in it again. The Wildcats onballers were starting to get on top in the middle and once again the trusty Rebels defence was fighting hard to keep the team in the game. The forwards made use of their opportunities and with this the Rebels were only trailing by 3 points at the last break.

The last quarter started with Chris Behie in the middle of the ground, his physical play made the early going a tough battle but unfortunately the Rebs ran out of steam and to their credit,  Hamilton pulled away to a 4 goal victory..

The result was disappointing but the Rebels will take a lot out of this game as they prepare for a tough battle in Guelph. This Round also saw the unveiling of the Rebels new uniform for 2007. A big thank you to all our Sponsors – Raymond Johnston Equipment, Hemingway’s, Blackstone Energy, Sneaky Dees and SFEO. Also a big thanks to Sean and Monty for the great work they did designing the new strip, they look fantastic.

PLEASE NOTE: The game time in Guelph has been changed to 10am on Sunday to accommodate any Fathers day plans.
