ROUND SEVEN- Saturday June 23rd  2007- Rebels vs. Hawks
Result: Rebels (2.4.16) def. by Hawks (20.11.131)

The rebels mustered up a squad of 18 to play against the Hawks in rd 7 of OAFL action on the weekend. With many players coming into the game carrying injuries it was always going to be a tough match with no-one on the bench except the team trainer Twerdun and the injured Fry.

With a solid pre-game warm up the Rebels took the field with confidence. But a free kick from the first centre bounce resulted in an early goal for the Hawks who did not look back from this point on, and proceeded to pile on 8 goals to none for the quarter. The Rebels were shell shocked to say the least but they were totally out played by the best quarter of footy a Rebels opponent has played all year.

During the first break the boys re-grouped and committed to playing a more man on man game in the second quarter and with several key changed made to the back half the Rebels rallied and kept the Hawks to just 3 goals for the quarter.

With still no goals on the board, the focus of the second half was to get a major on the score sheet. The prodigal son Nacho was playing an outstanding game on the wing with his physical presence and Frogga at half back used his Frisbee knowledge well stopping many forward attacks. The 3rd quarter was soured with the loss of Drago to a serious knee injury, he has been a tower of strength in the ruck this season and he is now added to a growing list of injured Rebels.

Starting the 4th quarter 1 man down it was always going to be a tough battle to get that elusive goal on the board. Chris Behie was moved into the ruck with the loss of Drago and he provided a spark for boys getting many possessions around the ground. The Rebs quickly put 2 goals on the board through Tammer and Patrick and played out the last quarter with some spirited footy despite being short handed. All in all it was tough loss but as usual the Rebels never gave up and this was proven by playing their best quarter in the 4th

Best on Ground:

On a sad note the club would like to extend its deepest sympathies to club president Scouse on the recent loss of his mother. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time
