The Rebels came out this past Saturday with
winning in their hearts. With some tough training sessions over
the past couple of weeks we felt ready to come out of the gate
strong. Unfortunately as we have a few times this season we come
out and handed the quarter over to our competition with little
effort on man coverage and zone defense. The first quarter saw
the Rebels in a familiar place down 6 goals and 4 behinds to 0
With some well chosen words from Coach
Monty and some reality from our Captain the Rebels came back on
the pitch for the second quarter ready to play some footy. This
quarter saw a massive improvement throughout the pitch from all
Rebels. We had strong wins from the middle in the form of Behie
smashing the ball down in Ruck and good aggression from the on
balers Fabs and Tamma, with a streaking and smashing Species
cleaning up the Dingos as he rolled into kill mode. The Rebles
made some changes on their line up and solidified their defense
with Nacho and Sean Duffy and a once again hurting Monty. The
Rebels held strong and actually won the quarter with 2 goals to
1.
The third was another battle from the get
go with the middle pack pushing the ball towards our goals. With
the injuries we have seen this year it was tough to complete the
ball movement all the way to goals but the boys went out there
with heart and determination, this quarter saw the score closer
and with a couple of more bodies up front could have seen the
Rebels make a serious come back.
The fourth was more tough and having given
up a big lead in the first was deemed to much to handle for the
ever increasing in talent Rebels. The boys fought hard and tough
quoted Head Coach Monty Burns. We need to come out of the gate
form the very beginning and make a stance on our talent and
skills. We are a good side and deserve a few more wins this
season. As the season rolls on training will get more intense
which should help the boys get started faster and more
aggressively.
As for the next game the Rebels will face
the Kangaroos out of Etobicoke.
