The birds were
chirping and the sirens were sounding in
anticipation of the rebels Round 9 clash
with the undefeated Roos in a Friday
night encounter at Humber College South.
The Rebels knew
that they had start this game well as in
their previous two battles they were
outscored badly in the first quarter.
Coach Monty had the Rebels fired and
ready to go and this was evident from
the first bounce as the boys were
committed to every contest and at the
first break had proven to the Roos that
this was not going to an easy contest.
After a stirring
first quarter the rebels continued there
physical attack on the footy lead by
Rock and Species. The backline was
stalling many of the Roos forays forward
with big Duffy leading the way and after
the tightest quarter of footy the boys
played all season they found themselves
going into the half time break just 10
behind the league leaders.
The third started
as the second ended in a tight battle
but the Roos continued pressure brought
then some much needed scoring pressure.
The rebels continued to fight hard with
Coach Monty throwing himself in
everything and leading the way on the
field.
With the final
change done, the rebels wanted to make
sure they finished the game with the
same intensity they started. The boys
came out hard and with several new
players to the game on the ground
showing they will be an integral part of
the team for the remainder of the
season. Congratulations to Al, Derrick
and Mexico on great debut’s. The game
ended with a 7 goal margin but many who
watched agreed it was a much closer game
then the scoreboard told.
Next round the
Rebels travel to Hamilton to take on the
Wildcats. Lets all make a big effort to
get there and bring home a victory. |
