ANZAC Day Party / BBQ / Fundraiser a "Gre-ate Success"!!! |
|
Well, the Rebels were at it again on
ANZAC Day. Thanks to great support and cooperation
with our friends at Hemingway's, the Rebels 2nd Annual ANZAC
Day Party was indeed a great success! The
festivities kicked of at around 5:30PM on the upstairs
patio. It was nice to see the original Rebel ,"Texas",
starting the night out right as the first Rebel to cozy up
to the bar. There was lots to do and plenty of beers
to drink as the night progressed.
A dedicated core of Rebels manned the BBQ
which Hemmis Management provided to a hungry group of ANZAC-ers
for free. (Thanks Kathleen :)). It was good to have
Greg Fabi out serving up the burgers and sausages and
preventing the inevitable outbreak of salmonella poisoning
if we had kept Robert Buckingham on the burner duty. (we all
know the English can't cook for crap). Thanks to all who
helped out... |

Once the food started to run out it was time to get the
50/50 drive into high gear. The dynamic duo of Monty
and Frogga sacrificed themselves and began attacking tables
of lovely ladies, hocking tickets by the armslength... A few
dudes bought some tickets as well, but those weren't put if
the box (whoops). By draw time over $600 was raised
with $300 going to the lucky winner who was a complete and
random stranger that nobody on the Rebels knew in any way,
shape, or form :) After the draw Monty and Frogga did
the rounds again, with the Frog apologizing to everyone who
he had guaranteed victory (whoops). A lovely young lady
won the Rebels Jersey raffle, then the night went on till
the wee hours of the morning, with Songs, Chants, and
Revelry with some guy named Walker thinking he owned the
place just because he has his jumper immortalized on the
Hemingway's Rebels Wall of Fame. (alright, maybe he has a
share) Players from other footy clubs made the rounds with
maybe more than a bit of jealousy and the Rebels recruiting
drive continued with the welcome addition of some new Rebs.
Thanks to all the old and new Rebels who came out to make
the night one to remember.

Good Time had by all at Victoria's 30th Birthday Bash |
|
Looks like the Rebels are starting the 2007 Social
Calendar strong... A determined group of rebels and
rebelettes met at Hemingway's Bar, Patio, and Restaurant in
Yorkville to surprise Victoria Bradley on her 30th Birthday.
She was pleasantly surprised but for some reason it
was only Robert "Whytie" Buckingham that cried. The rouse was expertly pulled of by
Craig "Species" Bradley by assembling a group of friends and luring Vicki
to Hemis under the guise of an ANZAC Day (or ANZADA) party
thanks to some clever photoshopping.
The fun and games continued at the nearby "Club V" on
Yorkville Ave where the dancing may have gotten a bit out of
hand to the misfortune of a few spilled drinks, soiled dress
shirts, and damaged egos. The important thing is that
nobody took any incriminating pictures (wishful thinking)
